Joan F. Furstenberg
Au.D., CCC-A
Joan Furstenberg is a native Houstonian, second generation, and was raised on the southeast side, where her mother still resides. She earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Audiology from the University of Texas at Austin in December of 1982, and her Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2003. Dr. Furstenberg began working at Medical Center ENT and Medical Center Hearing Aids in 1981 and became director of Audiology in 1996.
Dr. Furstenberg is in charge of overseeing the Audiology/Vestibulography Department of Medical Center ENT as well as Medical Center Hearing Aids, Ltd. She is responsible for performing diagnostic hearing evaluations, electrophysiologic evaluations including vestibular testing, tinnitus management, and fitting and dispensing of hearing aids. Her main professional interests include neurophysiologic testing, tinnitus retraining therapy (TRT) and fitting and dispensing hearing aids.
Kathryne (Katie) Hopkins
M.A., CCC-A
Katie is a native Houstonian and grew up in the Spring Branch area. She earned her Masters of Arts (M.A.) degree in Audiology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988. Katie was a clinical audiologist at Medical Center Ear, Nose, and Throat and Medical Center Hearing Aids from 1989 through 1994 and returned in 2007 after spending time raising her two children.
At this time, Katie is responsible for diagnostic testing and the fitting and dispensing of hearing aids. Her special interests include hearing aids and aural rehabilitation (lip reading).
Larissa Jurtshuk
M.A., CCC-A
Larissa Jurtshuk is a native Houstonian and fifth generation Texan. She was raised in the Clear Lake area. Larissa earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in audiology at the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently working on her doctorate (Au.D.) from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences and will complete it in August 2010. Larissa has been an audiologist at Medical Center Ear, Nose, and Throat and Medical Center Hearing Aids since September 2007.
Currently, Larissa is responsible for diagnostic hearing evaluations on all populations, electrophysiologic evaluations, tinnitus management, vestibular diagnostic, aural rehabilitation, and fitting and dispensing of hearing aids. Her main professional interests include pediatrics, aural rehabilitation, and hearing conservation.
Charles (Chip) A. Klinar
Au.D., FAAA
Chip Klinar grew up in Alvin, Texas. He earned his Master of Arts (M.A.) in Audiology from the University of Texas at Austin in May of 1985. He earned his Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2009. Dr. Klinar began working at Medical Center ENT and Medical Center Hearing Aids in 1993.
Currently, Dr. Klinar is responsible for diagnostic hearing evaluations, electrophysiologic evaluations, tinnitus management, aural rehabilitation, and fitting and dispensing of hearing aids. His main professional interests include his work with the profoundly deaf and hearing conservation.
